About

I am a UK photographer, born in Manchester, later moving with my family to the Peak District. There I developed a love of the landscape, light and the weather, through walking in it and being surrounded by my father’s paintings of the area. I now live 30 miles north of London.

I learned the basics of photography with 35mm film some years ago (in the Peak District) andafter a long break in making photographs I am now working with a digital camera. I am happiest outdoors in wilder places, hills, moors, dales and coastal areas. I have the perspective to see the wider view down to the details of a place and this is reflected in my work.

My artistic side led me to developing the ‘Landscapes beyond the Lens’ series, which is still ongoing. Many of these images have often been mistaken for paintings. Recently using elements of my own photographs I have made further digital explorations into landscape themes, being inspired by the textures and shapes of trees and landforms to create original photographic art.

The images from south east Iceland were made on a recent return visit, many years after my undergraduate dissertation work out there, when Iceland was ‘raw’, the ring road was a dirt track, few people visited and bucket lists hadn’t been invented.

I gained my Licenciate of the Royal Photographic Society (LRPS) a few years ago and somehow haven’t found the time yet to work for the next level.
